Commercial Energy Efficiency Programs
The Electric Light Department (ELD) offers 2 different classes of efficiency programs through the NextZero Program to provide our commercial and industrial customers with the right mix of technical support and incentives based on their individual needs through.
- Prescriptive programs that provide a fast track for customers with projects that have already been identified.
- Custom programs that provide technical support for project identification as well as incentives based on the estimated savings.

The ELD's 4 incentive programs for commercial and industrial customers pursuing energy efficiency projects are:
| 1. Prescriptive Lighting Program||Fast track for customers with identified lighting projects.||Up to $5,000|
|2. Prescriptive HVAC Program||Fast track for customers with identified HVAC project.||Up to $5,000|
|3. Custom Retrofit Program||Includes project scoping audit and incentives based on cost effectiveness of recommended projects.||Up to $10,000|
The Prescriptive Lighting program is a fast track process for reviewing and implementing lighting projects. This program is for customers who have identified lighting improvement projects and have procured cost quotations from licensed installers. Incentives available through the Prescriptive Lighting program are based upon equipment eligibility and pre-determined incentive per unit. Ipswich Municipal Light Department's Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Retrofit Program is designed to assist nonresidential customers (commercial, industrial, governmental and institutional, including multifamily) implement energy efficiency measures into their facilities by providing financial assistance in the form of an incentive / rebate.
New Construction & Major Renovation Program:
Ipswich Municipal Light Department’s New Construction / Major Renovation Program is targeted to all time dependent electric energy efficiency opportunities in commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional (including multifamily) buildings. Time dependent opportunities include new construction, major renovations within a facility, and end-of-life replacements of equipment in existing facilities. The program provides free technical assistance and rebates for the purchase and installation of select premium efficiency electrical equipment in new construction and renovation projects.
